On October 14, 2021, Ms. Angela Rodel, Executive Director of the Fulbright Bulgaria Program, and Ms. Maria Kostova, Program Officer, Bulgarian Grantees, visited the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. They presented the work of the Bulgarian-American Fulbright Educational Exchange Commission and the opportunities it offers for scientists, researchers and PhD students.
The Bulgarian-American Commission for Educational Exchange Fulbright offers Bulgarian researchers and scientists the opportunity to work in their specialty from 3 to 5 months in prestigious universities and research institutes in the United States. The program is available to professionals from all fields of science and the arts, except clinical medicine and dentistry. 5 scholarships are awarded each year.
Fulbright scholarships for scholars and professionals for research and lecturing in the United States enable Bulgarian scientists and university professors to work in their specialty up to 5 months in prestigious universities and research institutes in the US. Applicants are required to have a doctoral degree, proficiency in English and to provide an invitation letter from a U.S. academic institution. The deadline for submitting documents for the academic year 2022-2023 is December 1, 2021.

After the presentation, Ms. Rodel visited the International Center for Mathematical Sciences (ICMS), where she was hosted by the director of the Center – Prof. Oleg Mushkarov, and Prof. Lyudmil Katzarkov, scientific director of ICMS, who joined the event through zoom. Opportunities for cooperation and participation in Fulbright programs were discussed at the meeting.
