Self-organized Criticality and Artificial Life

Ernesto Lupercio

Cinvestav, Mexico

Prof. Ernesto Lupercio earned his Ph.D. from Stanford University in 1997 under the guidance of Ralph L. Cohen. He was awarded the ICTP Ramanujan Prize in 2009, “for his outstanding contributions to algebraic topology, geometry and mathematical physics.” He was a member of the Global Young Academy (2011-2016) and a member of the Third World Academy of Sciences.

In this series of talks, we will explore how the field of self-organized criticality is useful to inform the structure of artificial models of life. This is joint work with Kalinin, Tabares and Shkolnikov, and with Cruz, Muñoz and Viafara.
