In 2020 Alexander Efimov, a Research Fellow at the International Laboratory for Mirror Symmetry and Automorphic Forms (HSE University) and a Senior Researcher at the Algebraic Geometry Section of Steklov Mathematical Institute of RAS, has been awarded by the European Mathematical Society’s Prize.
The inaugural conference of the initiative Women in Mathematics in South-Eastern Europe took place in Dec 2020. The mission of the initiative is to promote the role of female mathematicians. A special distinguished guest of the inaugural conference was prof. Mina Teicher from the Department of Mathematics and Gonda Brain Research Center, Bar-Ilan University, Israel. Prof Teicher is also Director of Emmy Noether Institute for Mathematics.

Because of the complicated situation concerning the spread of COVID-19 and in view of the safety and well-being of all participants, a final decision was taken to move the conference “Complex Geometry”, Inaugural Conference of the International Center for Mathematical Sciences – Sofia and Satellite conference of the 8th European Congress of Mathematics, to 2021.
Because of the complicated situation concerning the spread of COVID-19, the workshop on Birational Geometry will be postponed. The new dates will be announced later.
In the period March 3-5, 2020, the newly established International Center for Mathematical Sciences – Sofia (ICMS-Sofia) and the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences are organizing a series of lectures on Hodge theory and local systems. The goal of this workshop is to introduce a new cutting edge area in modern Mathematics.
