This talk will explore pictorial approaches to studying algebras and related algebraic structures. Starting from triangulated surfaces that generate quivers (directed graphs), we will see how these pictures lead to two important algebraic constructions: path algebras—associative and noncommutative—and cluster algebras—commutative with fascinating combinatorial behavior.
