ICMS Conferences
The ICMS conference series aims to present and disseminate advances across a broad spectrum of contemporary fundamental and applied mathematics, and to foster the development of emerging and innovative directions in mathematical research.
The conferences organized by the ICMS–Sofia aim to provide a vibrant platform for the presentation and exchange of recent research developments in contemporary mathematics. They bring together leading experts, early-career researchers, and graduate students to foster collaboration and explore frontiers in both fundamental and applied mathematics.
Each conference is devoted to a specific theme or emerging area, reflecting the interdisciplinary spirit of the ICMS. Topics span a wide range of fields, including but not limited to algebraic geometry, mathematical logic, topology, mathematical physics, number theory, and theoretical computer science. The events are structured to encourage interaction, featuring invited talks, contributed presentations, and ample time for informal discussions. By combining scientific excellence with an open and inclusive atmosphere, the ICMS conferences aim to support the growth of international research networks and to inspire new ideas across disciplines.
Conferences List
Diophantine and Rationality Problems (DRP2025)
The conference will explore the newest developments around classical qualitative and quantitative questions for rational, integral, Campana and related notions of points on schemes and stacks, together with new insights on rationality questions over non-closed fields.
Complex Geometry at Large
In recent years several big advances enhance the field of complex geometry: Generalized geometries, Higgs and Langlands theory, Generalized Hodge theory, Hyperkaehler geometry. The goal of this conference is to consolidate and popularized new results in these directions. The event also seeks to provide an opportunity for young scholars from South-Eastern Europe to engage with cutting edge research in this area and to meet and interact with leading experts from around the world.
Fifth International Conference Women in Mathematics in South-Eastern Europe
The initiative Women in Mathematics of South-Eastern Europe has been established in 2020 and has proven its worth in the last few years. Тhis is the fifth in a series of conferences of this initiative, the purpose of which is to make women in mathematics more visible, to help them share their ideas and scientific achievements and to communicate with each other not only scientifically but also empathetically and emotionally.
IMSAC Days in Sofia Conference
This small event is to celebrate the very successful collaboration between the institutes involved in the Institute of the Mathematical Sciences of the Americas Consortium (IMSAC), solidify our connections and expand even more the prosperous cooperation.
Fourth Annual Meeting of Young Bulgarian Mathematicians
The International Center for Mathematical Sciences – Sofia is organizing for a fourth consecutive year a meeting of young Bulgarian mathematicians from around the world. The conference will take place at the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (IMI-BAS) on June 11 – 12, 2024.
