Theory of Atoms

Educational workshop

Start date: 16.12.2024
End date: 19.12.2024
Event location: Institute of Mathematics and Informatics at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences

In the period December 16 – 19, 2024, the International Center for Mathematical Sciences – Sofia at the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, is organizing an educational workshop on Theory of Atoms.

The goal of this workshop is to explain the foundations of the new theory of atoms, introduced recently by L. Katzarkov, M. Kontsevich, T. Pantev and T. Yu. We will discuss recent advances in this field, applications and future directions. We will also explore its relations to: Theory of symbols, Topological Modular forms, Symplectic geometry.

The workshop is part of the project “Categorical Kaehler Geometry and Applications” with PI: Ludmil Katzarkov, funded by the National Science Fund of Bulgaria, National Scientific Program “VIHREN”, Project № KP-06-DV-7.

The event is jointly organized by the Institute for the Mathematical Sciences of the Americas (IMSA) at the University of Miami, and the International Centre for Mathematical Sciences (ICMS-Sofia) at the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. The event is supported by Simons Foundation and Scientific Programme “Enhancing the Research Capacity in Mathematical Sciences (PIKOM)”.
