Theory of Atoms

Educational workshop

Start date: 16.12.2024
End date: 19.12.2024
Event location: Institute of Mathematics and Informatics at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences

In the period December 16 – 19, 2024, the International Center for Mathematical Sciences – Sofia at the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, is organizing an educational workshop on Theory of Atoms.

The goal of this workshop is to explain the foundations of the new theory of atoms, introduced recently by L. Katzarkov, M. Kontsevich, T. Pantev and T. Yu. We will discuss recent advances in this field, applications and future directions.

The workshop is part of the project “Categorical Kaehler Geometry and Applications” with PI: Ludmil Katzarkov, funded by the National Science Fund of Bulgaria, National Scientific Program “VIHREN”, Project № KP-06-DV-7.

The event is jointly organized by the Institute for the Mathematical Sciences of the Americas (IMSA) at the University of Miami, and the International Centre for Mathematical Sciences (ICMS-Sofia) at the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.

Speakers:

  • Ludmil Katzarkov, Institute of Mathematics and Informatics at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, and University of Miami, USA;
  • Maxim Kontsevich, Institute Des Hautes Études Scientifiques – IHES, Paris, and University of Miami, USA;
  • Tony Pantev, University of Pennsylvania, USA;
  • Ernesto Lupercio, Cinvestav-IPN, México;
  • Leonardo Francisco Cavenaghi, University of Campinas – UNICAMP, Brazil;
  • Bernardo Uribe, Universidad del Norte Barranquilla, Colombia;
  • Victor Przyjalkowski, Steklov Mathematical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences and International Laboratory of Mirror Symmetry and Automorphic Forms, National Research University Higher School of Economic Moscow;
  • Lino Grama, University of Campinas – UNICAMP.

In addition, there will be other research talks.

Registration

To attend the conference, please complete the following registration form.

Due to space constraints, the conference is open to invited participants. Everyone else is welcome to apply to attend, but if we run out of space some applications may not be approved. Young researchers and students will be selected by a Committee. The decision will be announced on November 19, 2024.
